Attendance
⏰ Attendance & Punctuality at Bridge Hall Primary ⏰
At Bridge Hall Primary, we know that good attendance and being on time have a huge impact on our children’s learning and success 📚🌟. That’s why we have lots of ways to support and celebrate attendance, keeping it a top priority for staff, children, and families alike.
📈 Our Attendance Success
Our attendance continues to improve year on year for the whole school and individual classes — thanks to high expectations, careful monitoring, and quick action to support children and families when needed
🎉 Attendance Rewards & Celebrations
We believe every child matters and every day counts. We don’t reward just perfect attendance because coming to school every day is the expectation. Instead, we celebrate and encourage great attendance and punctuality through:
🍽️ Free breakfast clubs starting at 8:30 am — a fun social time with friends and teachers
🏆 Celebration assemblies every half-term focusing on attendance achievements
📊 “Scores on the Doors” posters outside each classroom showing class attendance, updated regularly
👥 1-to-1 support from our Welfare Assistant for children needing extra help
📞 Friendly calls from the school office if your child is absent without explanation
🏡 Home visits by the Welfare Assistant and Headteacher if attendance causes concern
🤒 Reporting Absences & Illness
If your child is too ill or has a medical appointment, please call the school before 9:30 am to let us know the reason and expected return date. We may ask for proof of appointments like a card or doctor’s note.
If attendance drops below 90%, our Senior Leadership Team will send a letter to share their concerns and offer support.
For advice on when your child is too ill for school, visit the NHS guide:

✈️ Exceptional Leave Requests
Headteachers can only approve time off during term for exceptional circumstances.
If you need exceptional leave:
-
Collect and complete an Exceptional Leave Request Form from the school office.
-
Please do not book travel until the form has been reviewed by the Headteacher.
If leave is unauthorised and still taken, you’ll be invited in to discuss it — unauthorised leave may lead to a Fixed Penalty Fine and your child could lose their school place.
